Unveiling a Unusual Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Turdy Character with the Goal to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have discovered a variety of interesting independent titles. But, one catches the eye for its offbeat concept. Named Unko Technica, this classic-feel jumping adventure features a protagonist that is truly a dung striving to make its way to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."

How you interact is straightforward: just use a single jump button. Throughout 150 stages, you'll face boss fights and unlock a market to acquire outfits for your dung hero.

Plan your jumps with caution, since one wrong move requires starting over. Bounce on floating orbs to launch your character to new heights, traverse fragile platforms, and activate switches to open new areas. Collect coins for buying more difficult game content as things gets crazy.

Graphically, the demo features neon environments and an amazing music score. Its minimalist visual style with morphing basic polygons evokes memories of gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.

Although tough to recall previous releases where you play as a coiled turd, gaming often incorporated scatological themes. For example, in Death Stranding, players create explosives from protagonist droppings. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as soil enrichment. Unsurprisingly, this theme appears extensively in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Despite its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already garnered notable awards, like winning at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. This trial version is ready at present on Steam, with the final release scheduled to launch on computers in the fall.
