Shocking Recording Reveals Moment Police Suffer Blade Attacks in Unexpected Assault
A ranking policeman who jumped to the aid of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a blade-wielder was granted the Royal Recognition for Valor.
Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he held a weapon to the neck of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown initiated the assault as the officers and their third officer, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist following a vehicle incident in the area in summer 2023.
Brown knifed and cut the two Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a Taser.
"Officer stabbed," the constable was heard to say over his radio.
Bodyworn and dashboard camera footage made public by the agency showed Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood up, run up to Sgt Foster from the rear with a blade extended.
He collided with the officer who lost balance and dropped to the pavement, before Sergeant Ansell stepped in and attempted to subdue him to the ground although being multiple times hit with the blade.
Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and sought a safe opportunity, ending the struggle to an finish.
Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "Can I get something on my neck here, I'm bleeding in the throat."
Sergeant Ansell received multiple open wounds to his throat and additional wounds to his arms and torso, whereas Sgt Foster received cut injuries.
Authorities stated Sgt Foster utilized his palms to stop his fellow officer's bleeding before medical personnel came.
The new honor arrives after the law enforcement team won organizational Valor Recognitions in fall 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the local union branch in April 2024.
They further earned a Area Bravery Award in summer 2024.
"The efforts of the entire team ultimately protected each other and meant no bystanders endured any harm."
Brown was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in spring 2024, according to the department.
